What are our best options for getting married in the Caribbean?

Getting married in Jamaica is a beautiful and Easy experience. Couples can be married just 24 hours after arriving on many of the Caribbean islands,, provided they have applied for a marriage license in advance. Many hotels will assist with the arrangements and offer special packages that include the ceremony, government tax and other expenses. The requirements for US citizens are birth certificate, divorce papers if applicable, notarized parental consent if under age 18 years old, and copy of death certificate for widow/widower. Additional requirements exist for Italian nationals and French Canadians.

Where is the best shopping?

St.Thomas has excellent shopping for jewelry, such as diamonds, emeralds and gold; Cozumel or Costa Maya is great for silver; Puerto Rico, San Juan, and Jamaica are good for alcoholic items. In Jamaica, The Ocho Rios area has a wide variety of shopping possibilities. Main Street in the center of town is a shopping hub that includes the local craft market, and some of the duty-free delights include Taj Mahal, Soni's Plaza and Ocean Village Shopping Centre. Actually, ALL the islands are great and unique, we would urge you to visit all the venues and market places.

What kinds of transportation available to me?

Ground transfers are included in your All-Inclusive Packages and other ground transport is readily available from airports and hotels.

You mentioned All-Inclusive Packages, are there different classes of service?

Yes. many of the resorts offer inclusive or optional dining and activity plans. Generally there are two (2) types of services available:
1. All-Inclusive-This service includes EVERYTHING. Your airfare, transfers from and to the airport, resorts accommodations, ALL meals, beverages (including alcoholic), activities, parties, entertainment (some motorized water sports are extra), the list is endless. The All-Inclusive, in our opinion is your best value for your dollar!
2. European Style-This basically means ala carte. What you pay for is the resort, and you would receive the amenities, such as activities, parties, entertainment..etc, however, you would pay each day for your meals, just like at a restaurant, your airfare, may or may not, be booked separately, therefore, ground transport to/from the airport might be needed..etc. This service is advantageous to some, therefore it is available, however, we would not recommend it to families or groups.

Do I need to have a passport to travel?

US Citizens: A valid passport (no visa required) or an original birth certificate with raised seal or naturalization certificate or certificate of citizenship AND a state-issued photo I.D.

Canadian Citizens: A valid passport (no visa required) or a "Statement of Live Birth" certificate AND a valid government issued photo I.D.

What is the drinking age in the Caribbean?

The drinking age on most of the islands is 18

Is there gambling available to me?

There are no casinos in Jamaica, however, a number of the resorts, most notably Coral Cliff Hotel in Montego Bay, have game rooms with slot machines. The only legal betting is on the horse racing at the Caymanas Race Track in Kingston. The Bahamas boast one of the premier casinos, known as "The Paradise Casino". There are also casinos and other gaming facilities in Cayman Islands, Aruba, Antigua, just to name a few.

What should I pack for the Caribbean?

The average temperature in the Caribbean is 75-80 degrees year-round, so pack accordingly. It is suggested that you carry a light sweater or jacket for the evenings.

I am going to Caribbean in January. Is that a good time to go?

Its always a good time to go to the Caribbean, depending on what your interests are. There is little temperature variation on the islands throughout the year, so weather is not a big factor.

How many daylight hours can I expect in December?

We are certified PADI divers. Where are the good diving spots?

The Cayman Trench, a diver's dream scene, runs along the north coast of Jamaica making diving in that area fascinating. The Cayman Islands is 'known' for their crystal blue water and exotic sea life. The corals of St. Thomas, St. Croix, Cozumel,...well I think you get the point, diving in the Caribbean is FANTASTIC anywhere you go!

Are island vacation packages affordable and a good value?
